Inspiration for my name - My Little Ray of Sunshine ...
I chose this name because this is what my Nanna used to call me, and she would always sing Brian Cadd's "Little Ray of Sunshine" to me. So I thought that even though she's not around me anymore and has been gone for several years now, I could think of her every day and remember her singing this to me like it was only yesterday.
How I started ...
My Little Ray of Sunshine was born at a time when there really weren't any job opportunities for me, and I was looking for something to occupy my time and create a little income as well until I could find something. Plus, with 2 young boys at home, I wasn't really too interested in going back to work full-time and putting them in daycare & before & after school care to bring home not much money after daycare costs were taken out of my wages, so I was thinking about possible business opportunities to do from home that would allow me to not have to go back to work full-time and came up with this business plan.
I was thinking about how much I'd enjoyed making nappy cakes for my girlfriends or family who had baby showers and so decided to turn this into my business, and shortly after, added various other baby shower gifts as well.
After doing this for a little while, I thought I might like to learn how to sew and make baby items to add into my baby shower gifts, for a little bit more of a personal touch. I started making bibs and burp cloths, baby car seat belt covers and library & tote bags (because my boys needed them and I thought they were super cute!)
I have now taught myself how to make babies & childrens clothing, and I pride myself on my quality of work and will not send anything out that I'm not 100% happy with. I am always looking for new things to create, so if there is anything you're after, feel free to send me an email and I will try my best to make it happen for you.
Now I'm pregnant with our 3rd baby, due in July, I'm so thankful that I have created my business which will allow me to stay at home with our baby until they go to school, which is just amazing.
Thanks so much for your support!!! It means the world to me, and allows me to be a work-at-home mum and be there for my children whenever they need me.
